Tsunamis… now and then

No doubt you know what’s going on in Japan.

On December 26, 2004, an undersea earthquake measuring between 9.1 and 9.3. The resulting tsunami swept along the coasts of most landmasses bordering the Indian Ocean, inundating coastal communities with waves up to 30 m (100 feet).

According to various sources I’ve checked, the death toll from that event, confirmed and missing, is somewhere around 230,000 people in fourteen countries – including Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand and others. We still have months to find out what the toll will be in Japan.

It may be cliche and I might be overstating something you already know… but the world is small. What you do here means a world of difference somewhere else. Don’t remain complacent and content that someone else will do the helping. Please be part of the effort…
